Lets Play New Vegas Part 25: Philosophy and Testosterone

It seems one month per update might end up as my average, unfortunately. I'll try to rectify this, but christmas is coming.

This is going to be a really talky update, so be ready to sit and listen for a while.

Let's Play New Vegas Part 24b: Digressing from the difficult topics

So......another 3-month long gap. I can't say I really have an excuse this time either, it was basically a case of not being in a writing mood, since I had the pictures all captured months ago, I just didn't do the writeup. But, I guess I'm past my little bit of writers block now, so lets see what unimportant stuff I've been holding out on you about.

Let's Play New Vegas Part 24a: It's hot down South

This weeks update contains something we haven't seen much of for a while: Outdoors exploration. Can we get back into the swing of things, or has all the talking and urban spelunking dulled us to the great outdoors? Let's find out.

Let's Play New Vegas Part 22C: Now with Almost Something Happening!

An update after only a week? Will miracles never cease? Now we can finally get close to an approximation of getting a move on.

Lets Play New Vegas Part 22B: Let's go Shopping!!

Another month-long delay....I don't have much excuse for this, other than being generally and generically busy. But still, sitting around complaining won't help, we have to get going with another mini-update.

Let's Play New Vegas Pt 22A: All the little things

A smaller update this time, mainly because I want to break my habit of going a month between each update.

Let's Play New Vegas Part 21: Doing Our Homework.

Sorry for the delay, but the last few months have been fairly hectic for me, so I didn't get the time or mental energy to devote to this blog. I've had the images on my Steam storage for over a month, but writing up what happened wasn't on my mind. I hope to rectify that now, if possible.

Upon discussion with several contributors in person, it was agreed to go with Hardin's plan, even though it meant some...less enjoyable actions.

Let's New Vegas, Part 20: It's almost like locking people into vaults is a bad plan.

The consensus of the group seemed to be 'See what we can do in this place for our own advantage', and that's what we'll be doing today. Be warned, this one is text-heavy, because there's a lot of people to talk to.

Chult Update before we begin

So the final party composition has been discussed and selected. Iskar will be a straight Cleric of Uthgar, god of Barbarians, Animals, Strength, and Places where it's cold. Nothing special here aside from building him for buffing himself and teammates. Gilgamesh will be a Warlock because I keep messing up as a Sorceror, so the combo of better durability and combat ability would be preferable. He'll be acting as the 'party face', so Ao help us all. I'll probably stick with him as a pure Warlock until I qualify for a Gish PrC from one of the mods we're using. Bartleby will head towards the Dragon Warrior PrC, probably with Frenzied Berserker making up any levels after he finishes that. And, after checking the mods and discovering that the awesome Swift Hunter feat has been made weaksauce in adaptation, Lila will be a pure Scout, allowing us much-needed trapfinding abilities on a mobile and stealthy sneak attacking platform.

We should be doing our 'recording' sometime tomorrow, so stay tuned for a post in the next day or two!

Vincent Goes Trucking, Episode 2: The First Haul

Well, you guys left me on a tie-break. Go figure. I rolled a d2, and... Well... (Also oh god language warning.)

Let's Play New Vegas, Part 19: An Inconvenient Troupe

Whoop! Wasn't I supposed to be doing something else on top of all these other games? This time I've only let a month pass between update, so at least I'm improving, right?

Let's Kill Chult And Take It's Stuff: Party Composition

So, We've looked at the voting, and selected our Four party memebers...  Now we need to sit down and figure out how we are going to mold these four into a balanced team...  and we want YOUR input on what to do with these guys.

Iskar was planned as a Cleric/Monk, but we cna take his build in multiple directions.  The original planned build was for him to head down the Sacred Fist for a mix of Divine Magic and Monk craziness, but since he is our only Divine character he could easily go straight Cleric, or Cleric/something else.

Gilgamesh is our Arcane party member, And also the Party Face.  We could have him start as a Sorcerer and use spells to simulate his sword shooting and armor, and possibly class him into a Gish-style Prestige Class.  Alternately we could toss him down the Path of the Bard, and give him Snowflake Wardance to take advantage of his high Charisma to get a Deadly character effective with Magic and In melee.  An Alternate option would be to make him a Refluffed Warlock or Hexblade and build him that way with some of the PRCs.

Lila and Curtis were pretty close...   But in the end we decided that Lila fit the party better than Curtis did, both in personality and in party role.  Lila has a couple ways she could go.  On one hand, she could easily work as a Ranger and agument the ranged damage while mixing in spells and allow her to start off the game with her loyal Cat, Faith.  Alternately, she could go down a more support based route and go scout, giving us a skill monkey for our group capable of some pretty devstating sneak attacks, potentnially even going into Avenger later on.  Another option would be to have her do a bit of both and have her start as a scout, and pick up some extra oomph from the Swift Hunter feat along with some ranger levels, though she wouldn't want to take a Prestige class in this case.

Bartleby...  is pretty straightforward.  He is is a jerk, and flat out the evil member of the party. Statwise He is first and foremost the parties frontline warrior, the Tank and Slaughterhouse all in one.  There are some options on how his build can go.  He could go straight Barbarian and get all the awesome features that they get.  Alternately he could slip into Frenzined Berseker for more oomph in his rages, or he could jump into Dragon Warrior and sacrifice some of his rage to tap into more of his Draconic power.

Let's Kill Chult And Take It's Stuff: Character Selection

So, it seems  we'll be off to the lands of Chult, to cause audience-defined levels of mayhem. In the interest of making the setup process have the 'personal' touch, Sand and I have each put together 5 character concepts, which we're presenting to you as options for the resulting merry band. So, who's in the running?

Adventures in the Forgotten Realms!

So, After looking at the Voting... Sci and I have decided that we're going to go with Neverwinter Nights 2 for our Combo-Platter Let's Play.  I've scrounged about a bit, and have managed to put together a list of three possible campaigns for us to try out.
Sci - Oh boy NVN2. The biiiig advantage here is it uses the 3.5 ruleset, which is may favorite iteration of D&D mainly because I know how to build practically aaanything with it. By adding a few mods to fill the game with new classes and prestige classes, we get a TON of character options to play around with.

1) Storm of Zehir
-The Second Expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2.  One of the Better Expansions for NWN 2, the campaign is mainly set in Chult, a rarely seen part of Faerun.  The Campign focuses a lot more on exploration than the other options here, and has the unique option of allowing us to use *4* player characters, Two for Each LPer.
Sci - This is the option with the most flexibility, since we can mess around with the system and the scenario the most. We'll be able to open up character suggestions to you the viewers, letting you help us create a party of brave fools lost in Chult. Also, since its an official scenario, it might be less buggy.

2) Pool of Radiance
-This is a import of the legendary Pool of Radiance adventure into Neverwinter Nights 2.  I'm not quite sure what to expect, other than it will have some good old fashioned Dungeon Crawling.
Sci - Ah, a classic dungeon crawl. Possibly the least open to suggestions, since dungeons tend not to be fountains of moral or tactical options, but also the simplest option, good for spectacle.

3) The Last of the Dana'an / The Dana'an Unvanquished
-A Two part Campaign in a low magic world, that is focused around more tactical and organic world.  It has a mix of Linear and Free-Form stuff, and Actions will effect how the story goes a lot more than words.
Sci - I've always been wary of attempts to make 3.5 'low-magic', because the result is usually ill-balanced, but with only the two of us to worry about, it's hardly going to hurt too badly if we snap the game over our knees (or get snapped). A slightly more hardcore, Witcher-y experience might be the most indepth of the given options, but would require more care.

So, Which one would you prefer to see?

Double Double Trouble

Okay, so, turns out? We're inspiring each other before we've even really begun with this idea of a collective of LPing. The co-op LP that Sand and I will be doing has brought on the possibility of myself and Raven doing one as well, though in his case, his superior recording technology allows for the experience to be captured on video, instead of the usual hundreds of screenshots, and host them on his existing youtube channel. So, interesting possibilities abound. How might we use such an oppurtunity? Hmm.....

The Best LPs have two guys, this is known.

So, in the interest of explaining my madness, I should elaborate on what occured after my last attempt at getting feedback. Basically, Sand and Rabe were inspired by my call for ideas, and pitched their own ideas seperately. You've already seen Rabes contribution, but Sand has a different approach. He'd like to help me with my second LP....By being the co-participant. Yes, the concept of a two-person LP is what's being waved around, which means a very different look at the options on the table.

Vincent Goes Trucking - Episode 1: How It Started

Hello everybody, BSRaven here. Much appreciative of the sciencey one letting me do this gig on his space, and for putting up with me being confusing a lot of the time. This is going to be fairly silly, so buckle up, bring your beer and pretzels, and enjoy. Also, language warning, the lead character is prone to profanity.

Introducing My Co-contributors

In a move that I've had in discussion for a while now, I'm adding two of my fellows as authors on the blog. The first is Sandwitches, my online GM and fellow mad shark plotter, who plans to work with me on my next LP. The other is BSRaven, another online pal from merry old england, who's been making Youtube videos for some time now, and would like the chance to work on the type of LP I do here, to the mutual benefit of the whole endeavour.

Give them a big hand, ladies and gentlemen, as we go to the next stage of.....whatever it is we're doing.

Options for a potential second LP

Are you satisfied with the continuing antics of one teen girl with few manners but many stealthy bullets? Well, perhaps you're not, and you'd like to see something different on the channel, either as a followup once New Vegas is finished, or running alongside? Well, if you are, then this might be the thread for you. Here, you can suggest more possibilities for me to play unprofessionally, for your amusement.

Let's Play Fallout New Vegas, part 18: The Ownership Cycle

So, its been 6 months since I last did anything with this LP. I'm not sure I can attribute the lack of updating to anything but my own laziness. I kept finding different things to distract me, whether it be AAA games, online chat, or silly Gameboy Advance games I'd completed before and wanted to replay for nostalgia or something. In the meantime, playing more of a fallout game I'd completed once and didn't have the scope of Skyrim seemed an odd thought, even though the guilt gnawed at me on many an occassion.

But, I think I've finally come full circle, and decided to try this whole thing again. I hope you'll still stick with me, and see if we can make this thing go anywhere.
